Backstage

Last weekend was my first time helping out as part of a stage management crew. It was for a South-east Asian performance of dances, singing, acting and powerpoint presentation. The show, entitled Breezes & Breezes was amazing! All the performers were just wonderful and they worked very hard indeed.... the best part of it all was that it wasn't just people who were from south-east asia, friends from other regions also helped out.

So the stage manager for the show asked me to help out one week before the show...
The overall experience was fun but very tiring and time consuming.. during the initial rehersals it was boring to be waiting around to sort out the logistics and also waiting for performers to get accustomed to the stage.

But its pretty similar to video production... pre-production takes a lot of time and is very essential to ensure that the final show goes smoothly. but there's no post production at least :o) and the actual show is it! no re-shoots or having many takes...
there's the thrill of production too....so maybe this is not something bad to get into....

but then again.. where's the fun that comes with editing i.e. seeing the same video over and over again till u go crazy? or seeing the final cut that makes the effort all worth it? =P
